Warner, NH – On May 14, 2026, at approximately 9:15 p.m., New Hampshire State Police Dispatch received a call from a woman in Warner who was lost in the woods and unable to navigate back to the trail. The woman was identified as 22-year-old Kasey Czarnecki of Contoocook, NH. Czarnecki had gone off trail with her dog shortly before sunset in an attempt to reach Bear Pond to go fishing. After darkness arrived, she quickly became disoriented. Due to the weather at the time, she was also cold, wet, and eventually found herself stuck in a wetland.

At approximately 10:15 p.m., a Conservation Officer with New Hampshire Fish and Game arrived at the end of Bound Tree Road on the Hopkinton/Warner town line. Within minutes of arriving on scene, Czarnecki was located through verbal calling. Shortly after voice contact was made, Czarnecki was able to hike towards the Conservation Officer’s lights and reach the trail. From there, the Conservation Officer and Czarnecki walked out of the woods to the end of Bound Tree Road. Czarnecki and her dog were both unharmed.

New Hampshire Fish and Game would like to remind people to dress in accordance with the forecasted weather and always have additional light sources when recreating outdoors.
